Privacy Policy
Monerem (“Monerem,” “we,” “us”) is a personal budgeting web app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain language on purpose.
Information we collect
Account information
Your email address, your name if you add it, and your login details. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and are never stored in readable form.
Budget information you enter
Income, expenses, categories, savings goals, debts, bills, and receipts you add to Monerem.
Payment information
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe. We never see or store it. We receive your subscription status, plan, and billing dates.
Bank data you choose to link
Linking a bank account is optional. If you choose to link one, you sign in to your bank through Stripe Financial Connections, a secure service from Stripe. We never receive your bank username or password. With your permission, we receive:
- Balances for the accounts you choose, such as checking, savings, and credit cards.
- Transactions for those accounts: date, amount, and description (such as the merchant name), for up to the last 180 days and as new ones post.
- Basic account details such as the bank’s name, the account type, a nickname, and the last four digits of the account number.
We do not request your full account and routing numbers or the account owner’s name and mailing address.
Information stored in your browser
We use your browser’s storage to keep you signed in and to remember small preferences, such as whether you hid suggestions. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use your information
- To provide Monerem’s features, such as calculating your budget, filling in what you actually spent, updating your savings goals and debt payoff plan, and showing tips based on your numbers.
- To manage your account and subscription, including free trials and billing.
- To respond to you when you contact us, and to send important account notices.
- To keep Monerem secure and working properly.
Bank data is used only to show you your own budget and progress inside Monerem. It is not used for lending decisions, credit scoring, or advertising.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own use. We use a few service providers to run Monerem, and they process data only on our behalf:
- Stripe processes payments and provides the secure bank-linking service.
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in. Data is stored in the United States.
- GitHub Pages hosts our website files. It does not receive your budget or bank data.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our members or Monerem.
How we protect your information
- All data travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
- Your data is stored in the United States, and database rules allow each member to see only their own information.
- Bank connections and the keys that read bank data are kept on our servers only. They are never sent to your browser or shared with other members.
- Access to member data is limited to what is needed to run and support Monerem.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information and will notify you as required by law if a breach affects you.
Your choices
- Unlink a bank anytime in Monerem. We stop collecting new data from that account right away.
- Edit or delete your budget information at any time inside the app.
- Delete your account by contacting us. We delete your account information, budget data, and bank data within 30 days, except records we are required to keep for tax or legal reasons (such as billing records).
- Get a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us.
How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is open. If you unlink a bank, we stop collecting new data and delete stored transactions from that account within 30 days. If your membership ends, your budget data stays saved so you can pick up where you left off if you return, unless you ask us to delete it.
Children
Monerem is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your state privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights, such as knowing what personal information we collect, requesting deletion, and not being discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those laws define it. To make a request, contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will update the date at the top and let members know in the app or by email.
